On January 13, 2022, Dalian General Holdings, a leading semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary Quanding launched Type-C 65W PD fast charging based on Richtek RT7790GEQ and RT7208E controllers plan.

RT7208E and RT7790GEQ applied in this scheme are two high-performance controllers introduced by Richtek. Among them, RT7208E integrates SR control, ZVS control and feedback loop compensation, and supports various working modes such as QR/DCM/CCM, which can realize zero-voltage turn-on of primary power switch, and significantly improve system efficiency and reduce electromagnetic interference.

The RT7790GEQ has built-in bidirectional control logic and complete protection functions, including Brown-in/Brown-out protection for large capacitors, VDD overvoltage protection, output overvoltage/undervoltage protection, secondary side rectifier short circuit protection and peripheral circuit overheat protection Wait. Combining RT7790GEQ and RT7208E can be designed with extremely high robustness and security.

Thanks to these high-performance devices, this solution can improve charging efficiency and minimize heat generation. While reducing the size of the charger, the power density of the product is increased.
