According to a study published in the journal Nature Energy, scientists have developed a lithium iron phosphate battery that can achieve a cruising range of 402 kilometers and a total driving range of 3.22 million kilometers after 10 minutes of charging. The battery is a self-heating battery that can be rapidly heated to 60°C for charging and discharging.
When the cathode (lithium iron phosphate) uses a thin nickel foil on one end and connects to the negative electrode, the other end extends out of the battery to form a third terminal. Resistance heating rapidly heats the nickel foil and the inside of the battery as the electrons flow. When the internal temperature of the battery reaches 60°C, the switch will be turned on, and the battery can be charged and discharged quickly. In addition, when the battery is heated, it provides 40 kWh and 300 kW of electricity, enabling the electric car to accelerate from 0 to 95 km/h in 3 seconds.
